What does SPF 30 PA++ mean?

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. A sunscreen with SPF 30 has a sun protection factor of 30, which indicates the level of protection against UVB rays. Simply put, SPF 30 means you can stay about 30 times longer in the sun without burning. For example, if you usually burn after 15 minutes, SPF 30 allows you to stay in the sun for about 450 minutes without sunburn. However, remember to reapply the product every two hours to maintain protection.

The PA rating is a Japanese classification that indicates the level of protection against UVA rays. SPF only measures UVB protection, while UVA rays cause long-term skin damage without immediate redness. PA+ is the lowest protection, while PA++++ offers the highest. So, with a sunscreen labeled SPF 30 PA++, you know exactly what to expect.

SPF 30 or SPF 50?
